Canadian electronic duo Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance, both born in Vancouver, BC, attended St. George's School together but barely knew each other before reconnecting in New York City years later. Vallance had spent his early career making trance and progressive house music, earning releases on Ultra Records and crafting remixes for Sia before his early twenties. When Howie and Vallance reunited in New York, producer Francis Harris suggested the name Bob Moses — a nod to the influential New York urban planner. Their debut EP Hands to Hold arrived in late 2012, followed by Far from the Tree before they signed with Domino Records in 2014. Their debut album Days Gone By (2015) defined their approach: electronic music composed with the narrative ambition of a rock band, built around verses, choruses, and emotionally charged storytelling rather than DJ-friendly loops.
