About Dax J

Dax J is a London-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer whose sound moves between the driving rhythmic density of modern techno and the deeper jungle influences of his musical roots. He discovered the techno sound during a full season spent in Ibiza in summer 2007, and from that point forward his creative direction shifted entirely toward the 4/4 structure and machine-driven pressure of cutting-edge techno and drum and bass. In 2013, he founded Monnom Black, a Berlin-based record label that became his primary release platform while also introducing producers such as Kaelan and Emmanuel to a wider underground audience — an indication of his investment in building the techno ecosystem beyond his own discography. His debut full-length album Shades of Black arrived on Monnom Black in 2015, reflecting both his jungle origins and his command of cold, suspenseful techno — a pairing that positioned him within the Berlin underground as an artist whose work carried historical depth rather than trend-chasing immediacy. His second solo album Offending Public Morality, released on Monnom Black in 2018, earned broad institutional recognition including selection as BBC Radio 1's 'Biggest Record of the Week' and placement in the Top 50 Albums of the Year lists from DJ Mag, Tsugi, and Apocalypse Mag — a rare cross-format success for a techno long player.
