About Drama

Tyree Cinque Simmons — performing as DJ Drama — grew up in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood and attended Clark Atlanta University, where proximity to Atlanta's hip-hop scene connected him to the generation of artists who would make the city the center of American rap. He became T.I.'s official DJ and launched the Gangsta Grillz mixtape series — a curatorial format that redefined how rappers built audience relationships in the pre-streaming era, featuring exclusive freestyles and unreleased music from Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, and Gucci Mane across more than 30 volumes. He co-founded Generation Now with Don Cannon, a label that signed Jack Harlow and leveraged the same mixtape infrastructure to launch Harlow into one of hip-hop's most commercially successful careers of the early 2020s. His Las Vegas residencies at Drai's Nightclub and LIV at Fontainebleau position him as one of hip-hop's most credentialed DJ-curators on the Strip — bringing the deep catalog knowledge of someone who has shaped the genre's release infrastructure for over two decades.
