Paul Nicholas Fisher was born on November 5, 1985, on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, in a coastal city whose identity is built around competitive surfing, beach lifestyle, and the Queensland surf industry infrastructure. He attended Palm Beach Currumbin State High School and began competitive surfing at 16, earning sponsorship from Billabong and entering the World Surf League Qualifying Series — the development circuit that feeds into the WSL Championship Tour, surfing's top competitive level. Competing internationally on the QS circuit meant traveling through the surf event calendar, where the after-hours culture surrounding professional surfing contests pulled him toward electronic music during a period when his competitive results were not progressing toward championship-tour qualification. He began DJing informally around 2005, playing sets at surf industry events, product launches, and film premieres within the professional surfing community's social network. He partnered with fellow QS tour competitor Leigh Sedley to form Cut Snake, a DJ and production duo that signed with a label and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue music more seriously. Cut Snake built a following in the tech house and underground circuit before Fisher began releasing material under his own name around 2018 — a decision reflecting a shift toward solo artistic identity after the duo's output had established his production credibility in the house music community. He launched the Catch & Release imprint in 2018, and the breakout single from that year — Losing It — became one of the genre-defining moments in tech house's commercial expansion. The track reached number one on the Australian Club Tracks chart, number one on the Billboard Dance Chart, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording — a combination of commercial placement and industry recognition rare for a track operating within tech house's traditionally underground aesthetic. The tempo and structural energy of Losing It became a template that defined tech house radio-ready production for years following, and the track accumulated over half a billion streams across platforms. In 2018, Fisher and Chris Lake jointly headlined EDC Las Vegas's kineticFIELD stage in what the electronic music press widely documented as tech house's arrival at American festival culture's mainstream peak. The kineticFIELD is EDC's largest stage and historically home to trance and progressive house headliners; their booking signaled a genre shift in American dance music preferences. He was subsequently ranked number 7 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 in 2025. Las Vegas declared an official FISHER Day in recognition of his contributions to the city's nightlife economy. His Las Vegas residency spans OMNIA Nightclub, OMNIA Dayclub and Skybar, Palm Tree Beach Club, and other Strip venues, including a headline slot at OMNIA Dayclub's opening weekend in May 2026. He returns to EDC Las Vegas's kineticFIELD for the 30th anniversary edition in 2026.
