Hot Since 82 at Zouk Nightclub

Hot Since 82 — Daley Padley, from Barnsley in South Yorkshire — carries a working-class northern English background that he has cited in interviews as foundational to the directness of his house music approach: a region where the music had to work on a physical level on a dance floor before any conceptual or aesthetic evaluation would occur. That background produced a production philosophy evident in his Knee Deep in Sound label imprint — functional house that serves the dance floor without sacrificing musical quality, released through an independent structure that Padley controls rather than within major label systems.

Zouk at Resorts World Las Vegas is the appropriate Las Vegas context for Hot Since 82's sound for reasons that go beyond simple genre matching. Zouk's programming philosophy — which includes underground techno and house alongside its mainstream headliner calendar, which books the Reze Room as a dedicated underground zone — signals a venue that understands the distinction between tech house that is designed to sustain a specific dance floor and tech house that approximates that function within a mainstream club format. Hot Since 82's Zouk bookings place him in the main room or the Reze Room depending on the specific date and programming context, and the 75-foot LED dome ceiling of the Zouk main room creates a visual environment that complements the sustained groove approach of his sets.

His sets at Zouk typically run 90 to 120 minutes in the resident DJ format. The first 20-30 minutes establish the tempo and groove framework; the middle portion builds through track selection that maintains consistent energy while introducing melodic variation; the final third sustains peak energy through to the last track without the dramatic drop-and-resolution that DJ sets oriented toward festival audiences use to signal the end of a performance. Knee Deep in Sound, the label imprint Padley launched, has released work from Shadow Child, Kevin Knapp, Marc Romboy, and others — a roster that demonstrates consistent curatorial judgment rather than the commercial opportunism that many DJ-run labels adopt.
