What to Expect: Ja Rule at Drai's Nightclub
Jeffrey Bruce Atkins — performing as Ja Rule — brings his Murder Inc. Records legacy to Drai's Nightclub at The Vanderpump Hotel, the Las Vegas Strip's dedicated hip-hop nightclub positioned below the hotel casino floor in an underground configuration that concentrates crowd energy differently than traditional elevated nightclub formats. His appearances at Drai's draw the core Murder Inc. audience: guests who know Always on Time and Livin' It Up as catalog milestones rather than casual radio discoveries, whose engagement with the live performance extends to active participation in the sing-along moments his hooks were engineered to generate. His catalog's melodic DNA — the R&B-inflected hooks that distinguished Murder Inc.'s style from harder-edged rap contemporaries of the early 2000s — produces a specific crowd-response pattern at Drai's. Always on Time (Billboard Hot 100 number one, 2002), Livin' It Up, and Put It on Me carry twenty-plus years of club programming placement across multiple generations of hip-hop fans — they function as R&B standards in the Drai's context, where the crowd's familiarity runs deep enough that vocal participation begins at the opening bar rather than the hook recognition moment. The underground room layout at Drai's, where guests arrive below casino level to a room built for hip-hop performance, creates the contained energy environment that distinguishes his live appearances from the festival and arena contexts that his 2001-2003 commercial peak generated. His Queens lyricism and the melodic sensibility he developed alongside Ashanti and Irv Gotti translate directly to the Drai's demographic of R&B and hip-hop fans spanning the full arc of the early-2000s crossover era. Artist Profile
About Ja Rule
Jeffrey Bruce Atkins — performing as Ja Rule — built one of hip-hop's most commercially dominant runs between 2000 and 2003, combining melodic hooks with street lyricism in a style that bridged hip-hop and R&B at the precise moment that crossover format was commercially dominant. He co-founded Murder Inc. Records alongside Irv Gotti, and the label's releases dominated charts across those years — Always on Time (featuring Ashanti) reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002 while collaborations with Jennifer Lopez and Ashanti crossed his sound into mainstream pop territory. Three consecutive Billboard 200 #1 albums from 2001 to 2003 placed him among hip-hop's most commercially successful performers of that era. At Drai's Nightclub on the Las Vegas Strip, his catalog delivers instant audience recognition — every hook a sing-along for fans of early-2000s hip-hop at its commercial peak.
