Terius Gray — performing as Juvenile — was born March 25, 1975, in the Magnolia Projects of New Orleans, Louisiana, and began his career in the city's bounce music scene as a teenager, developing the propulsive bass-driven sound that defined New Orleans rap before Cash Money Records signed him. His 1998 album 400 Degreez — featuring production by Mannie Fresh and featuring a then-16-year-old Lil Wayne on Back That Azz Up — became the highest-selling album of 1998 with over four million copies sold and remains Cash Money Records' highest-selling project to date.
