About Nicky Jam

Nick Rivera Caminero — performing as Nicky Jam — was born March 17, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts, to parents of Puerto Rican origin, and grew up in Puerto Rico and Miami before establishing his reggaeton career through early collaborations with Daddy Yankee in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After a career resurgence in the 2010s, he produced some of the most commercially successful Latin pop and reggaeton of the decade. El Perdón, his 2015 collaboration with Enrique Iglesias, won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Performance and crossed into mainstream pop markets across Europe and the Americas. His 2017 album Fénix earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, and its lead single El Amante reached seven-times platinum certification. X, his 2018 collaboration with J Balvin released as the FIFA World Cup official song, reached the top of charts in multiple countries and accumulated over one billion YouTube views — global reach that made his name recognizable well outside the traditional Latin pop audience. The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation named a scholarship in his honor, recognizing his philanthropic contributions to Latin music education.
