Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight formed ODESZA at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, releasing their debut album Summer's Gone in 2012 — a self-released project that circulated through music blogs and streaming platforms and built an early audience without label infrastructure or commercial radio placement.
