About Sammy Virji

Samuel Bashir Virji, born 30 September 1996, is an English DJ and record producer who has become one of the defining voices in the contemporary UK garage and bass music revival. Born in London and raised in Witney, he attended Newcastle University before leaving to pursue music full-time — a decision that proved well-timed as the UK garage scene began attracting renewed international attention. His musical lineage is personal: his father Fayyaz Virji played trombone on Lauryn Hill's landmark 1998 album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, placing him within a household where music was embedded in professional life from childhood. Virji gained initial widespread attention in 2017 with his 'Never Let You Go' edit, which spread rapidly through SoundCloud and established him within the UK garage community as a producer with authentic roots in the genre's original sound.
