Jauz — born Sam Vogel in Mill Valley, California — is a Bay Area-bred DJ and producer whose career in bass house and dubstep began at the intersection of two formative experiences: early guitar training and electronic music production education at Icon Collective in Hollywood. He began building his audience through SoundCloud remixes before his originals caught the attention of Diplo and Skrillex, leading to a release of the single 'Feel the Volume' on Diplo's Mad Decent label and a collaboration with Skrillex titled 'Squad Out!' — two early career placements that positioned him at the top of the bass house producer peer network before he had released a full studio album. His debut album The Wise & The Wicked, released August 31, 2018, reached number one on the dance charts within two hours of release and accumulated over 20 million streams within three weeks — a commercial performance that confirmed the audience he had built through years of touring and single releases.
