San Francisco-based DJ and producer Justin Martin is one of the founding members of Dirtybird Records — the label Claude VonStroke built into one of the defining forces in American house music — appearing on the imprint's first four releases and helping shape its quirky, funky, groove-forward identity from the beginning. Born April 20, 1979, Martin approached electronic music production through the lens of San Francisco's underground club culture, developing a sound rooted in deep, rolling house grooves with comedic vocal samples, rubbery basslines, and the irreverent personality that became Dirtybird's signature. His 2013 debut album Ghettos and Gardens earned support from NPR, SPIN, and Nylon — a rare crossover for a house record — demonstrating that his production had depth and personality beyond the dancefloor context. He co-wrote 'Reach for Me' with Claude VonStroke, a track that became a staple in house DJ sets globally, and has appeared on labels including Dirtybird, Objektivity, Suara, Moshi Moshi, and his own What To Do imprint, which he launched in 2020 as a platform for emerging underground talent. His Tao Beach Dayclub bookings at The Venetian Resort bring his San Francisco–rooted Dirtybird house sound to the Las Vegas daytime pool circuit.
