Alexander Paul Coe — performing as Sasha — was born September 21, 1969, in Bangor, Wales. He learned to DJ in Manchester's club scene during the late 1980s, securing a residency at The Haçienda and then Shelley's in Stoke-on-Trent, where extended multi-hour bookings shaped his long-set programming approach. DJ Magazine named him World's Number One DJ in 2000. Alongside John Digweed, he co-held the landmark Twilo residency in New York City from 1997 to 2001 and co-released the Northern Exposure compilation series on Ministry of Sound (1996–1997) — the first commercially available document of progressive house at its definitive peak.
