Transportation

How to Get to Black Hat USA

Parking

Use the Mandalay Bay parking garage. Self-parking is available on a first-come basis. During major shows, arrive early as the garage fills by mid-morning.

Public Transit / Monorail

A free tram connects Mandalay Bay to Luxor and Excalibur. From Excalibur you can walk to the MGM Grand monorail station for service up the Strip. The tram runs every 3–7 minutes.

Rideshare (Uber / Lyft)

Uber and Lyft have a designated area at the Mandalay Bay main entrance on Las Vegas Blvd.

Walking from the Strip

Mandalay Bay sits at the south end of the Strip. It is a 20–25 minute walk to central Strip hotels. The free tram to Luxor and Excalibur helps, and from there you can connect to the monorail.

Insider Tips

Black Hat USA Tips for First-Timers

  • Black Hat Trainings and Briefings are separate registrations. Trainings are multi-day hands-on courses; briefings are the main conference talks.
  • The Business Hall has a lot of vendor booths and free swag. Budget time to walk through it at least once.
  • August in Vegas is HOT — 100°F+ outside. Mandalay Bay is air-conditioned but the walk from parking or rideshare can be brutal. Stay hydrated.
  • If you are also attending DEF CON (which starts right after Black Hat), book your hotel for the full week. DEF CON 2026 is at the LVCC.
  • Security researchers take network security seriously at Black Hat. Use a VPN on your devices and be cautious about connecting to conference Wi-Fi.
  • The parties during Hacker Summer Camp are legendary. Check Twitter/X and the unofficial Hacker Summer Camp guides for the latest party list.
  • Reserve your hotel room well in advance. Mandalay Bay, Delano, and Four Seasons are on-site and convenient, but mid-Strip hotels can be a good balance between Black Hat logistics and DEF CON access at the LVCC.
  • Bring business cards or a digital contact method. Black Hat is one of the highest-density professional networking events in the security industry. Vendor booths, training courses, and hallway conversations can all lead to career-defining introductions.
  • The Black Hat Arsenal is a section of the Business Hall where security researchers demo open-source tools in real time. It runs alongside the Briefings and is often overlooked by first-timers — some of the most technically interesting presentations in infosec happen here.
  • If you are attending both Black Hat and DEF CON, pack for the full week. Both conferences together run from August 1 through August 9 — book a single hotel stay and avoid the Sunday checkout-and-check-in shuffle.
  • DEF CON 2026 runs August 6–9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center — and August 6 (Thursday) is simultaneously Black Hat Briefings Day 2 and DEF CON Day 1. DEF CON badge pickup opens at 8:00 AM Thursday. If you are attending both, Thursday is a transition day: finish Black Hat briefings and business hall, then head to the LVCC. Calibrate Thursday evening plans accordingly — late Thursday nights cut into the first full DEF CON day Friday.

After the Show

Black Hat USAAfter Dark — Nightlife & After Parties

Black Hat USA operates on two distinct social calendars depending on which week you attend. Training Week (August 1–4) and Briefings Week (August 5–6) have almost nothing in common from a nightlife and corporate entertainment perspective. Understanding which week you are in determines the correct entertainment strategy — and choosing the wrong approach for the wrong week costs budget, time, and the premium experiences that distinguish Black Hat's corporate entertainment culture from any other security conference in the world. Training Week: The Corporate Intelligence Network Training attendees at Black Hat skew heavily toward the enterprise segment of the security industry: senior security architects, red team leads, cloud security engineers, and the DevSecOps practitioners who implement the control frameworks their CISOs mandate. Four-day trainings ($3,000–$6,000 per seat) and two-day trainings ($1,500–$3,000 per seat) attract professionals on corporate expense accounts, frequently traveling with their security team and alongside vendor contacts. The evening dynamics of Training Week reflect this: small-group corporate dinners at Mandalay Bay's restaurant portfolio, vendor-hosted receptions at Skyfall Lounge on the 64th floor of the Delano Las Vegas (inside the Mandalay Bay complex), and private suite events at the Four Seasons Las Vegas — the only Forbes Five-Star hotel attached to the convention center campus. The social unit in Training Week is typically 6–12 people from the same company or vendor relationship, executing a structured evening: dinner at a premium restaurant, then transition to a nightclub or gentlemen's club, with Sapphire Las Vegas (complimentary transportation from Mandalay Bay) serving as the most common final destination for the corporate entertainment set. Tailgate Beach Club: The Black Hat Convention Center Pool Tailgate Beach Club opened at Mandalay Bay on May 16, 2026, replacing Daylight Beach Club and transforming the 50,000-square-foot footprint into the first sports-driven dayclub on the Las Vegas Strip. The venue sits two minutes on foot from the Black Hat convention center entrance — no rideshare, no tram, no transportation cost or logistics. Five resort-style pools, 145 feet of continuous LED screens carrying live sports programming, and 22 VIP cabanas with stadium-style food and beverage service define the experience. Operating Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tailgate Beach Club overlaps directly with both Training Week and Briefings Week schedules. For security vendors entertaining customer groups during Black Hat, a Thursday afternoon Tailgate Beach Club cabana booking represents one of the most practical corporate entertainment formats at the conference: on-property access requiring no transportation logistics, daylight programming with no nightclub age verification complexity, and group cabana pricing that aligns with corporate entertainment budgets without the $3,000-plus nightclub bottle service minimums that premium Strip venues charge during August. Groups who can align a free afternoon between sessions have direct pool access without leaving the Mandalay Bay property. Briefings Week: Peak Corporate Entertainment Wednesday, August 5 is the single highest-volume arrival day at Black Hat. The Business Hall opens with the full exhibitor roster, the Briefings tracks launch simultaneously, and vendor-sponsored events begin that evening and extend through Thursday night. The two Briefings days create a social dynamic unlike Training Week: the complete Black Hat attendee base of 20,000 is on-property simultaneously, enterprise badge holders from Fortune 500 security programs are present alongside independent researchers, and the Business Hall's concentrated networking function generates the highest density of relationship-building introductions in the cybersecurity event calendar. Wednesday evening is the peak corporate entertainment window at Black Hat USA — security vendors who have reserved tables at Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand for client entertainment are executing their highest-investment Black Hat budget night. Hakkasan is accessible via the free Mandalay Bay–Luxor–Excalibur tram to MGM Grand — under 10 minutes from the convention center entrance. Thursday follows as the closing Briefings day: Business Hall visits are the Thursday afternoon priority as the conference winds down, and Thursday evening trends toward final networking dinners and strip club appearances before the weekend dispersal begins. Night-by-Night Guide: August 1–6, 2026 Saturday, August 1 — Trainings Day 1: First training cohort arrives. The conference is not yet at full occupancy — Saturday at Mandalay Bay during Black Hat is the most accessible nightclub night of the full week. Tailgate Beach Club opens and runs its standard Thursday-through-Sunday schedule. For evening entertainment, the opening Saturday delivers the strongest DJ lineup of the full conference week. Dayclubs: FISHER headlines OMNIA Dayclub at Caesars Palace (11:00 AM), The Chainsmokers headline Encore Beach Club at Wynn (11:00 AM), and Alesso runs Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand (11:00 AM). Saturday nightclubs run simultaneously from 10:30 PM: DJ Snake at OMNIA Nightclub (Caesars Palace), Fabolous at Hakkasan Nightclub (MGM Grand — one free tram stop from Mandalay Bay), Elderbrook at Marquee Nightclub (The Cosmopolitan), Sidepiece at LIV Nightclub (Fontainebleau), Don Toliver at Zouk Nightclub (Resorts World), and Diplo at EBC at Night (Wynn). Submit NoCoverVegas guest list at least five days in advance for Saturday night venues — the opening Saturday of Black Hat week carries conference-season headliner demand at every major venue simultaneously. Sunday, August 2 — Trainings Day 2: Second training cohort checks in. Sunday at Mandalay Bay during Black Hat is the second-most accessible nightlife evening — fewer conference parties, standard venue pricing without conference-week premiums. Chris Lake headlines OMNIA Dayclub at Caesars Palace (11:00 AM) on Sunday — a dayclub option for Training Week attendees who prefer the electronic music dayclub format over Tailgate's sports-driven programming. TAO Nightclub at The Venetian (monorail from MGM Grand, one stop north) runs Sunday programming at lower demand than peak weekend pricing. Layton Giordani holds LIV Nightclub at Fontainebleau (10:30 PM) with his Drumcode techno catalog — the underground electronic option for the segment of the Black Hat crowd whose tastes extend beyond commercial EDM and hip-hop. Monday, August 3 — Trainings Day 3: Mid-week training sessions. Monday evenings are quiet — teams are in intensive courses starting at 9:00 AM Tuesday, so late nights carry a professional cost. Small-group dinners within the Mandalay Bay property (Border Grill, Rivea at Delano, Aureole) and the Skyfall Lounge on the Delano 64th floor are the standard Monday evening format for training attendees entertaining vendor contacts. Tuesday, August 4 — Trainings Final Day / Summit Day: The last training day and Summit Day events run simultaneously. The Business Hall pre-registration line opens. Tuesday evening is the final low-pressure night before the full Briefings arrival Wednesday — groups who want maximum access to Strip nightclubs without the Wednesday corporate entertainment competition should consider Tuesday for their primary nightclub evening. Wednesday, August 5 — Briefings Day 1 — Peak Night: The highest-demand corporate entertainment evening of Black Hat USA. Vendor-sponsored parties and client dinners run from 6:00 PM through 2:00 AM. Hakkasan at MGM Grand runs R&Bae Wednesdays with DJ Franzen (10:30 PM) — the most requested venue for vendor entertaining on this specific evening, and advance bottle service reservations are strongly recommended as walk-up capacity is limited during Black Hat Briefings week. Odd Mob performs at EBC at Night at Wynn (10:30 PM) for the electronic music contingent who prefer the outdoor pool-deck club environment. OMNIA Nightclub at Caesars operates simultaneously. Text NoCoverVegas at (725) 999-9293 with venue preference, group size, and night to arrange coordinated access. Thursday, August 6 — Briefings Day 2: Final Briefings day and simultaneous DEF CON Day 1 at the LVCC. Business Hall is the afternoon priority. For daytime pool programming, DJ Shr3d holds the Thursday resident slot at Liquid Pool Lounge at ARIA (11:00 AM). Thursday nightclub programming includes G-Minor at TAO Nightclub for Worship Thursdays (The Venetian, 10:30 PM) and Hakkasan Nightclub Thursday programming (MGM Grand, 10:30 PM — accessible by rideshare in under 10 minutes from Mandalay Bay). Thursday evening at Black Hat otherwise has the highest strip club attendance of the conference week — Sapphire Las Vegas (the largest gentlemen's club in the United States, 71,000 square feet, complimentary transportation from Mandalay Bay) and Crazy Horse III draw significant corporate entertainment groups on Thursday night as the Black Hat crowd concludes before weekend dispersal. Groups with DEF CON commitments starting early Thursday should calibrate Thursday evening plans accordingly — DEF CON badge pickup opens at 8:00 AM.

Nightlife Guide

Black Hat USA Nightlife — Night by Night

Las Vegas nightlife during Black Hat USA operates on a campus-first logic that most Strip visitors do not encounter. Mandalay Bay Convention Center anchors the south end of the Strip — further from the mid-Strip nightclub concentration than any other major convention venue in Las Vegas. That distance collapses the moment you understand that the free Mandalay Bay–Luxor–Excalibur resort tram deposits guests within a two-minute walk of Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand, the largest nightclub in Las Vegas. Transport logistics, once understood, stop being a friction point.

Skyfall Lounge: The Black Hat Happy Hour

Skyfall Lounge occupies the 64th floor of the Delano Las Vegas, the all-suite tower connected to Mandalay Bay via interior walkways. Hours run Sunday through Thursday 5 PM to midnight, Friday and Saturday 5 PM to 1 AM, with DJ programming beginning at 9 PM. For Black Hat attendees, Skyfall serves as the pre-nightclub transition point — converting a convention day into an evening out without requiring transportation or significant planning. The 64th-floor panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip, unobstructed north toward the downtown skyline, provide the backdrop for cocktails and the informal networking that defines Black Hat's non-session social calendar. The space is a premium bar, not a nightclub: service is cocktail and light-bites oriented, smart casual dress code (conference business attire fully qualifies), and the crowd skews toward senior security professionals and vendor executives who prefer a quieter environment before or instead of a full nightclub visit. Monday and Tuesday evenings during Training Week, when most attendees are in course preparation mode, make Skyfall the default social stop rather than a primary nightclub run.

Hakkasan: The Tram Route Explained

Hakkasan at MGM Grand is 0.5 miles north of Mandalay Bay — the closest major nightclub to the Black Hat convention center. Walking on Las Vegas Boulevard in August heat (105°F+) is not practical. The preferred route is the free tram: depart from the Mandalay Bay south casino level, ride to Excalibur (two stops), then cross the level-two pedestrian bridge to MGM Grand's main casino entrance. Hakkasan's front door is 90 seconds from there. Total travel time: 10–15 minutes depending on tram wait. The tram runs until approximately 11 PM, which covers the nightclub arrival window; after 11 PM, rideshare or the pedestrian bridge route handles the return. Hakkasan's multi-level format — main room for EDM and progressive house, Ling Ling Lounge for hip-hop, mezzanine and garden terrace — means groups with mixed musical preferences can find their environment within a single venue without venue-hopping. For Black Hat vendor teams entertaining clients across multiple taste profiles, this architecture eliminates the need to choose.

Center-Strip Venues From Mandalay Bay

OMNIA Nightclub at Caesars Palace, Marquee at The Cosmopolitan, Zouk at Resorts World, and LIV at Fontainebleau are 1.5 to 3 miles north of Mandalay Bay. Rideshare averages 10–15 minutes during normal evening hours and 20–25 minutes during the Wednesday and Thursday Briefings peak window when surge pricing is active. OMNIA is the most-requested center-Strip option for Black Hat groups — the kinetic chandelier main room and the outdoor terrace before midnight distinguish it from the enclosed Hakkasan format. Zouk at Resorts World is a practical choice for attendees combining Black Hat (Mandalay Bay) and DEF CON (LVCC) in the same trip: Resorts World sits near both the convention center and the Strip nightclub circuit, making it the geographic bridge between the two conference venues. LIV at Fontainebleau books hip-hop and crossover programming that appeals to a different slice of the Hacker Summer Camp demographic than the EDM residencies at OMNIA or EBC.

Strip Clubs: Free Transportation From Mandalay Bay

Every major Las Vegas gentlemen's club dispatches complimentary transportation directly to Mandalay Bay's hotel entrance. Sapphire Las Vegas — 71,000 square feet, the largest in the United States — operates the most consistent pickup service during Black Hat week: vehicles depart on request, no rideshare app required, no cover charge at the door for NoCoverVegas guest list holders. The service is genuinely bidirectional — Sapphire returns groups to Mandalay Bay at the end of the evening. Crazy Horse III and Hustler Club Las Vegas run the same model. For Black Hat vendor teams whose expense budgets cover entertainment but not transportation, the complimentary pickup eliminates a coordination variable at the end of an evening that has already moved through dinner, a cocktail stop at Skyfall, and possibly Hakkasan before the final destination.

Pool Parties: Timing During Black Hat Week

Pool party programming during Training Week (Saturday August 1 through Tuesday August 4) runs on weekend schedules. The opening weekend — Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2 — is the highest-quality pool window of the entire Black Hat calendar: Encore Beach Club at Wynn operates at full capacity with peak summer headliner bookings, and OMNIA Dayclub at Caesars runs its August residency roster. Both are 10–15 minutes by rideshare from Mandalay Bay. Weekday pool access during Training Week is limited: most major dayclubs operate Thursday–Sunday. Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand (accessible via tram) operates Wednesday through Sunday — it provides a venue for Briefings-week attendees who want afternoon pool programming on Wednesday or Thursday between sessions. Tailgate Beach Club at Mandalay Bay operates Thursday through Sunday and is open on both Briefings days (Wednesday excluded). For groups arriving at the conference on Wednesday August 5 for Briefings-only attendance, Thursday is the only Tailgate window during the conference proper.

Dress Code: Conference Attire vs. Nightclub Standards

Black Hat USA's professional attendee profile creates a nightlife advantage that DEF CON attendees, arriving the following week, do not share. Strip nightclubs prohibit athletic wear, cargo shorts, hoodies, sandals, and baseball caps — the items most associated with DEF CON's counter-cultural aesthetic. Black Hat vendor team business casual and executive dress shirts meet or exceed nightclub requirements at Hakkasan, OMNIA, XS, Marquee, and Zouk without modification. Attendees in more casual training gear should pack one going-out outfit: dark jeans, a collared shirt or solid button-down, and clean leather shoes or fashion sneakers pass the door at all major venues. Women attending Black Hat nightlife have broader latitude — cocktail attire, fashion dresses, and elevated casual all qualify. Check the specific venue dress code through NoCoverVegas before arrival to avoid any door friction after a full day of sessions.

Guest List Strategy for Black Hat USA 2026

NoCoverVegas processes guest list requests for Strip nightclubs and gentlemen's clubs during Black Hat week on the standard timeline: submit name, email, group size, and preferred venue and date through the form. Confirmation arrives via SMS from (725) 999-9697 within 24 hours. At the venue, the guest list entry lane is separate from general admission — arrive before midnight for the fastest experience. For Wednesday August 5 and Thursday August 6 (both Briefings nights), submit requests two to three days in advance; elevated vendor group volume on both nights means earlier submissions get better timing in the call-ahead window. Dayclubs — Tailgate Beach Club on property and Encore Beach Club or OMNIA Dayclub off-property — accept guest list requests independently from the nightclub process. Text (725) 999-9293 with preferred venue, date, and group size to coordinate access across multiple nights during the conference week.

The Vanderpump Hotel and Drai's After Hours

The Vanderpump Hotel opened in May 2026 at 3595 South Las Vegas Boulevard — formerly The Cromwell, a boutique casino-hotel that operated between Bally's/Paris and The Linq at the center of the Strip. The rebrand and renovation introduced Lisa Vanderpump's signature aesthetic throughout the property while preserving the hospitality infrastructure. Drai's After Hours continues its long-running operation in the basement level of the hotel — unchanged in format from its Cromwell era, running hip-hop and house music programming across multiple rooms from 1 AM through 8 AM Thursday through Sunday. The Vanderpump Hotel basement remains the primary after-hours venue in Las Vegas for Hacker Summer Camp attendees who want to continue past standard nightclub closing. From Mandalay Bay, a rideshare runs approximately 10–12 minutes to the Vanderpump Hotel entrance. Guest list through NoCoverVegas covers Drai's After Hours on both Briefings nights.

The Mandalay Bay Campus Entertainment Loop

The Mandalay Bay resort complex runs north from the convention center entrance through three connected properties sharing a continuous interior walkway: Mandalay Bay itself, the Delano Las Vegas all-suite tower, and the Four Seasons Las Vegas — the only Forbes Five-Star hotel in North America connected directly to a major convention center. Within this interior campus, a full evening's entertainment is possible without stepping into the 105°F August heat or calling a rideshare. Vinyl Room occupies the 63rd floor of Mandalay Bay tower via a dedicated elevator bank — opened August 8, 2026, replacing Foundation Room at the same Strip-view perch with a vinyl culture lounge concept. The public venue features thousands of vinyl records, nightly programming from artists who have played Las Vegas, and an Asian-inspired menu. Smart casual dress code; Black Hat business attire qualifies. Minus5 ICEBAR operates on the Mandalay Bay casino floor — an all-ice bar experience (walls, furniture, and glassware are carved from ice maintained at 23°F) that functions as a conversation novelty for vendor team icebreaker meetings in the early evening before dinner. The Four Seasons Lounge, accessible through the interior walkway at the north end of the campus, serves as the quietest premium bar option on the property — preferred by senior executive attendees who want a meeting environment without the background volume of Skyfall or the foot traffic of the casino floor bars. The interior campus loop is the correct frame for understanding Black Hat Training Week Monday and Tuesday entertainment: it satisfies a full evening's professional social agenda without adding transportation logistics at the end of a nine-hour training day.

Vendor Marketing Budget Allocation at Black Hat

Security vendors at Black Hat USA operate under one of the highest-concentration corporate entertainment budgets of any technology conference in the annual calendar. A standard Business Hall vendor presence — one medium-size booth ranging from $20,000 to $60,000 — is typically paired with a client entertainment budget for Wednesday and Thursday Briefings nights that runs $8,000 to $25,000 for groups of eight to twenty people across both evenings combined. This budget calibration reflects the density of senior purchasing decision-makers in the Business Hall: CISOs, security program directors, and procurement contacts from Global 500 companies attend Black Hat Briefings at higher per-head concentration than any other annual security event. Hakkasan bottle service tables on Wednesday evening during Black Hat week carry minimums of $3,000 to $8,000 depending on table position and headcount. Private reception space at Skyfall Lounge on Briefings nights runs $500 to $2,000 for small executive groups. Strip club entertainment through NoCoverVegas — complimentary pickup from Mandalay Bay, no cover charge — functions as the zero-incremental-cost extension of a vendor evening that has already committed the bottle service budget: the complimentary transportation and free entry model allows enterprise entertainment groups to add a final venue without adding another line item to the evening's spend.

Vinyl Room: The 63rd-Floor Alternative

Vinyl Room opened August 8, 2026, at the top of Mandalay Bay tower — the same 63rd-floor perch that housed Foundation Room for over 25 years — with a completely reinvented concept from Live Nation built around vinyl culture and Las Vegas entertainment history. City views face south and west across the airport approach corridor and the mountains beyond, a direct contrast to Skyfall Lounge's north-facing panorama. The venue is open to the public seven days a week, programming artists who have played Las Vegas through a curated vinyl-centric soundtrack alongside an Asian-inspired food menu and signature cocktails. The dress code is smart casual — Black Hat vendor business casual and executive dress shirts qualify without modification. For Training Week attendees who have already used Skyfall on Monday evening and want a different campus venue on Tuesday, Vinyl Room provides the visual variety and the elevated 63rd-floor perspective without requiring transportation.

Cybersecurity Professional Networking in the Nightclub Context

The networking arc at Black Hat nightlife follows a specific professional pattern that distinguishes it from general convention entertainment. A formal Business Hall introduction — a vendor pitch, a research presentation follow-up conversation, a mutual contact introduction during an afternoon session break — creates an acquaintance. An evening at Hakkasan shared with that contact converts the acquaintance into a relationship. This is not incidental: it is the structural mechanism by which enterprise security industry relationships are built and maintained at Black Hat specifically. A CISO who received a vendor briefing on Wednesday afternoon and shared a bottle service table at Hakkasan on Wednesday night is six to eight relationship-hours ahead of where a cold email sequence would position that same conversation. Security vendors who have operated at Black Hat for multiple years allocate Wednesday evening entertainment budget not as optional hospitality but as the second half of the sales introduction that started on the Business Hall floor. NoCoverVegas guest list coordination accommodates groups of up to twenty people on a single reservation, covering the full vendor team plus invited client contacts, with venue call-ahead and guest list lane access managed without adding coordination overhead to the evening program.

BSides Las Vegas and the Three-Conference Scheduling Problem

BSides Las Vegas runs August 3 through 5 at Tuscany Suites, approximately 2 miles from Mandalay Bay, in parallel with the final two Training Week days and the first Briefings day. Attendees doing all three Hacker Summer Camp conferences — Black Hat Trainings, BSides Las Vegas, and DEF CON — face a consecutive six-night social calendar from Saturday August 1 (Training Day 1, Tailgate Beach Club opening) through Thursday August 6 (Black Hat Briefings Day 2 and DEF CON Day 1 simultaneously), with DEF CON continuing through Sunday August 9. The strategic nightlife approach for this three-conference schedule treats Monday and Tuesday as low-investment evenings — Skyfall Lounge, a campus dinner, Vinyl Room at most — and concentrates entertainment investment on Tuesday evening (the last quiet night before Briefings escalates the conference population), Wednesday August 5 (the peak corporate entertainment night), and Thursday August 6 (the closing Briefings evening, highest strip club attendance of the week). The DEF CON weekend runs Friday through Sunday after the Thursday transition — attendees planning after-hours venues on Friday and Saturday of DEF CON weekend should note that Drai's After Hours at Vanderpump Hotel operates Thursday through Sunday, covering both the Black Hat closing and the DEF CON opening weekend. Submit a NoCoverVegas guest list request covering Wednesday and Thursday Black Hat nights and separately for any DEF CON weekend evenings — the system handles multi-venue, multi-date coordination from a single submission.

Black Hat USA — FAQ

Where is Black Hat USA 2026?

Black Hat USA 2026 is at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89119. Mandalay Bay is at the far south end of the Las Vegas Strip — approximately 4 miles from the Las Vegas Convention Center where DEF CON is held. From Mandalay Bay you can reach MGM Grand via the free tram (one stop), the central Strip via rideshare (10–15 minutes), and the LVCC via the monorail from MGM Grand (20–25 minutes total) or rideshare ($12–20). For attendees planning both Black Hat and DEF CON, a central Strip hotel like The Cosmopolitan or Caesars Palace provides balanced access to both venues.

What are the Black Hat USA 2026 dates?

Trainings run Saturday, August 1 through Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Briefings and the Business Hall are Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6. Badge pickup opens Saturday, August 1 for Trainings badge holders and starts Wednesday morning for Briefings-only attendees. August 5 is the highest-volume registration day — arrive by 8:00 AM to avoid the Briefings opening rush. If you are attending both Trainings and Briefings, pick up your badge Saturday morning. DEF CON 2026 begins Thursday, August 6 at the LVCC — the final day of Black Hat Briefings overlaps with the first day of DEF CON.

What is Hacker Summer Camp?

Hacker Summer Camp is the informal name for the week-long convergence of cybersecurity events in Las Vegas every August. The main events are Black Hat USA (Mandalay Bay), BSides Las Vegas (Tuscany Suites), and DEF CON (Las Vegas Convention Center). Together they draw 60,000 or more security professionals — researchers, practitioners, students, government officials, law enforcement, and journalists — to what is effectively the most important week on the information security calendar. The full combined schedule runs approximately August 1–9: Black Hat Trainings Saturday through Tuesday, BSides Las Vegas Sunday through Tuesday, Black Hat Briefings Wednesday–Thursday, and DEF CON Thursday through Sunday.

How hot is Las Vegas in August?

Las Vegas in August is routinely 100–110°F (38–43°C) during peak afternoon hours and rarely drops below 80°F at night. August is one of the hottest months of the year in the Mojave Desert. The Mandalay Bay Convention Center is heavily air-conditioned but all outdoor transit — including the walk from parking, rideshare pickup and dropoff, and the tram stations — is exposed to direct sunlight. Bring a water bottle and refill it constantly. Sunscreen is essential for any outdoor exposure. The heat is a real physical stressor across a full week of conference activities — stay hydrated, consider electrolyte supplements, and never underestimate a Las Vegas August.

Should I use conference Wi-Fi at Black Hat?

Exercise serious caution with all wireless connectivity at Black Hat. The convention is attended by the world's most skilled offensive security practitioners — and deliberately hostile networks, rogue access points, and credential-harvesting demonstrations are part of the conference culture. The Wall of Sheep (a display showing captured credentials from unencrypted traffic) is both an educational demonstration and a live warning. Best practices: use your cellular data plan instead of conference Wi-Fi whenever possible, run a trusted VPN on all devices if you must use hotel Wi-Fi, disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not actively using them, and never check corporate email on shared hotel networks.

What is the difference between Black Hat Trainings and Briefings?

Trainings are multi-day, intensive, hands-on courses — typically two or four days — covering specific security skills and techniques. Briefings are the main conference talks: 40–50 minute presentations on cutting-edge security research. You register and pay for each separately. Trainings run Saturday through Tuesday; Briefings run Wednesday and Thursday. You can attend Briefings only, Trainings only, or both.

What should I bring to Black Hat USA 2026?

A burner laptop or a clean-build machine with a VPN is strongly recommended for attending training workshops. Bring a portable battery pack — your phone will drain fast from navigation and note-taking. A notebook (paper works too) is useful for training sessions. Business cards or a digital contact sharing method are essential for networking. Comfortable shoes and a light jacket for air-conditioned conference rooms round out the essentials.

How do I get from Mandalay Bay to DEF CON at the LVCC?

DEF CON 2026 is at the Las Vegas Convention Center, about 4 miles north of Mandalay Bay. Take the free Mandalay Bay tram to Excalibur, then catch the Las Vegas Monorail from MGM Grand north to the Convention Center station. Alternatively, rideshare runs $12–20 each way. The trip takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and monorail timing.

What hotels are best for Black Hat USA 2026?

Mandalay Bay, Delano Las Vegas, and Four Seasons Las Vegas are all connected to the convention center and are the most convenient options. For a shorter stay or budget option, staying at a mid-Strip hotel (Cosmopolitan, Caesars, MGM Grand) is a reasonable trade-off — a 15-minute rideshare to Mandalay Bay. If you are attending both Black Hat and DEF CON, consider a central Strip hotel with easy access to both the south end and the LVCC.

What are the best restaurants at Mandalay Bay during Black Hat?

Mandalay Bay has an excellent dining lineup. Border Grill is a popular sit-down option at the conference. Delano's Della's Kitchen is a relaxed cafe ideal for networking lunches. For dinner, Aureole and Rivea are upscale choices. The food court in the convention center is convenient but lines are long during the Briefings lunch break. A short tram ride to Luxor or Excalibur adds more casual dining options.

Is there parking at Mandalay Bay for Black Hat USA?

Mandalay Bay has a large parking garage. Self-parking is typically $15–20 per day during major events. The garage fills early during Briefings days — arrive by 8:00 AM if you are driving. Rideshare is often more convenient since the Mandalay Bay entrance on Las Vegas Blvd has a designated pickup and dropoff area. Surge pricing is common during the morning arrival window.

What is BSides Las Vegas and how does it relate to Black Hat?

BSides Las Vegas is a free, community-organized security conference that runs August 3–5 at the Tuscany Suites, approximately 2 miles from Mandalay Bay. It is the grassroots, peer-reviewed counterpart to Black Hat's more commercial format. Many attendees do all three Hacker Summer Camp events: Black Hat Trainings on the weekend, BSides mid-week, and DEF CON immediately after. Registration for BSides is free but limited.

What is the Wall of Sheep at Hacker Summer Camp?

The Wall of Sheep is a display at DEF CON (and now also at Black Hat via related events) that shows the usernames and partial passwords of people caught sending unencrypted credentials over the conference network. It is both an educational demonstration and a reminder to use VPNs and encrypted connections. Your corporate email on hotel Wi-Fi is not safe — use a VPN or personal hotspot at all times during Hacker Summer Camp.

Are there nightclub guest lists available during Black Hat week?

Yes. NoCoverVegas offers free guest list entry to Las Vegas nightclubs and gentlemen's clubs during Black Hat week, including Hakkasan at MGM Grand, OMNIA at Caesars Palace, Zouk at Resorts World, and Sapphire Las Vegas. Note: XS at Wynn is closed Aug–Dec 2026 for renovation, reopening NYE Dec 31 — Encore Beach Club at Wynn remains open for daytime pool programming. Sign up on our guest list form — it takes 60 seconds and eliminates the cover charge. Given that Mandalay Bay is at the south end of the Strip, Hakkasan (one free tram stop away at MGM Grand) is the most convenient large nightclub during Briefings week. Tailgate Beach Club is at Mandalay Bay itself — pool access with 125+ feet of LED screens, no rideshare required.

How do I travel between Mandalay Bay and the central Strip during Black Hat?

From Mandalay Bay, the free Mandalay Bay–Luxor–Excalibur tram provides service to Luxor and Excalibur. From Excalibur, the Las Vegas Monorail station at MGM Grand is a 5-minute walk — the monorail then runs north to Bally's/Paris, Flamingo/Caesars, Harrah's/LINQ, and the Convention Center. A monorail day pass is $13. Rideshare from Mandalay Bay to the central Strip runs $12–20 depending on surge. Predictable surge windows during Black Hat week: 7:30–9:00 AM (morning commute), 6:30–8:30 PM (post-session dinner rush), and 11:30 PM–1:30 AM (post-nightclub discharge). Walking between venues is not practical — Mandalay Bay is too far south.

What strip clubs are popular during Black Hat USA and Hacker Summer Camp?

Gentlemen's clubs have historically been a significant part of the Hacker Summer Camp social calendar. Sapphire Las Vegas (the world's largest at 71,000 sq ft) has free entry through NoCoverVegas with complimentary limo transportation from Mandalay Bay — the most popular after-hours destination for conference groups during Hacker Summer Camp. Crazy Horse III is the modern boutique option with private VIP table arrangements. Peppermint Hippo and Spearmint Rhino are centrally located between Mandalay Bay and the central Strip. All four offer free entry and complimentary transportation through NoCoverVegas — no cover charge, no minimum spend.

How do I find vendor parties and after-parties during Black Hat?

Vendor-sponsored parties require invitation or badge verification but are widely accessible. The most reliable methods: (1) Visit vendor booths in the Business Hall on Wednesday — most vendors distribute event flyers and QR codes for that night's and Thursday's parties; (2) Follow @BlackHatEvents and major security vendor accounts on X (Twitter) for real-time announcements throughout the week; (3) Check hackercamp.guide — the most comprehensive community-maintained aggregator of Hacker Summer Camp events, updated in real time; (4) Join the Hacker Summer Camp Discord before arriving — party invitations circulate there faster than on social media. Business Hall parties tend to be at mid-Strip hotels; some of the most exclusive events happen at the Skyfall Lounge at Delano (connected directly to Mandalay Bay) and at private suite gatherings.

What is the fastest way to get from Mandalay Bay to Hakkasan Nightclub during Black Hat USA?

Take the free Mandalay Bay–Luxor–Excalibur tram from the south casino floor level at Mandalay Bay. The tram stops at Luxor and Excalibur — from Excalibur, walk two minutes across the level-two pedestrian bridge to MGM Grand's main casino entrance and follow signs to Hakkasan. Total transit time is 10–15 minutes depending on tram wait. The tram runs until approximately 11 PM; after 11 PM, rideshare from the Mandalay Bay main entrance is the return route.

Is Skyfall Lounge at the Delano open during Black Hat USA 2026?

Yes. Skyfall Lounge on the 64th floor of Delano Las Vegas (connected to Mandalay Bay) operates Sunday through Thursday 5 PM to midnight and Friday–Saturday 5 PM to 1 AM. DJ programming begins at 9 PM. The venue is a premium bar with Strip views, not a nightclub — dress code is smart casual and most Black Hat conference attire qualifies. It is the most popular pre-nightclub stop for training attendees entertaining vendor contacts on weekday evenings during Black Hat week.

How do I submit a guest list request for Las Vegas nightclubs during Black Hat USA week?

Submit your name, email, group size, preferred venue and date through the NoCoverVegas guest list form. SMS confirmation arrives within 24 hours from (725) 999-9697. At the venue, use the guest list entry lane and arrive before midnight. For the two Briefings nights (Wednesday August 5 and Thursday August 6), submit two to three days in advance — those are the highest-demand nights of the conference week and early submission ensures better positioning in the call-ahead window.

Does standard Black Hat conference attire qualify for Las Vegas nightclub dress codes?

In most cases, yes. Strip nightclubs prohibit athletic wear, cargo shorts, hoodies, sandals, and baseball caps. Black Hat's professional attendee profile — vendor business casual, executive dress shirts, clean fashion sneakers — meets or exceeds the door requirements at Hakkasan, OMNIA, Marquee, and Zouk without modification. Training-mode casual attire (conference t-shirts, technical hoodies) does not qualify — pack one going-out outfit of dark jeans, a collared shirt, and clean shoes for Briefings evenings.

Is Tailgate Beach Club at Mandalay Bay open during Black Hat Briefings days?

Tailgate Beach Club operates Thursday through Sunday from 11 AM to 8 PM. During Black Hat 2026, Wednesday August 5 (Briefings Day 1) falls outside Tailgate's operating schedule. Thursday August 6 (Briefings Day 2) is an operating day — pool access is available before evening plans. For Training Week, Tailgate runs Saturday August 1, Sunday August 2, and returns Thursday August 4 if that aligns with the conference schedule. The venue is a two-minute walk from the convention center entrance with no rideshare required.

Which Las Vegas nightclub is best for vendor team client entertaining during Black Hat Briefings week?

Hakkasan at MGM Grand is the most consistently used vendor entertaining venue during Black Hat Briefings week. The multi-level format — EDM main room, Ling Ling Lounge for hip-hop, outdoor terrace — accommodates groups with different preferences without requiring a venue change. It is one tram stop from Mandalay Bay, making pre-dinner logistics simpler than center-Strip alternatives. Wednesday August 5 is the peak booking night — advance bottle service reservation is strongly recommended rather than walk-up on that specific evening.

Do Las Vegas strip clubs offer free transportation from Mandalay Bay during Black Hat?

Yes. Sapphire Las Vegas, Crazy Horse III, and Hustler Club Las Vegas all dispatch complimentary vehicles directly to the Mandalay Bay hotel entrance on request. No rideshare app, no cover charge, and transportation back to Mandalay Bay at the end of the evening is included. Submit a NoCoverVegas guest list request for the specific venue before your Black Hat visit — the guest list confirmation is what triggers the free pickup coordination. Text (725) 999-9293 with venue preference and group size to arrange transportation.

Is there after-hours nightlife available near Mandalay Bay past 4 AM during Black Hat week?

Drai's After Hours at The Vanderpump Hotel opens at 1 AM Thursday through Sunday and runs until 8 AM. It is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles north of Mandalay Bay — a short rideshare from Excalibur. The venue runs hip-hop and house music across multiple rooms simultaneously and is the primary after-hours destination for Hacker Summer Camp attendees who want to continue past standard nightclub closing. Standard NoCoverVegas guest list applies. For attendees attending DEF CON immediately after Black Hat, Thursday after-hours plans should account for the 8 AM DEF CON badge pickup opening.

What is the difference between walk-up cover and guest list at Las Vegas nightclubs during Black Hat week?

Walk-up cover at major nightclubs during Briefings week (Wednesday August 5 and Thursday August 6) runs $40–$70 for men and $20–$40 for women at Hakkasan, OMNIA, and Zouk. Guest list through NoCoverVegas eliminates the cover charge for qualifying groups: women receive complimentary admission all night, men receive free or reduced-cover entry before midnight. Submit two to three days in advance for both Briefings nights — those are the highest-demand evenings of the conference week and early submission ensures priority positioning at the guest list entry lane. On-night walk-up is always an option but the $50-plus cost per person multiplies quickly for a group of six on a vendor budget. The guest list lane at Hakkasan on Wednesday is also faster than the general queue, which matters when a vendor dinner ends at 11:00 PM and you want to be on the floor before midnight.

Which convention center exit is closest to each nightclub, and should I go early or late during Black Hat?

Exit routing and timing strategy depend on which phase of Black Hat you are in. Convention Center Exit Routes by Destination: Hakkasan at MGM Grand (closest major nightclub, 0.5 miles): Exit the Mandalay Bay Convention Center into the main Mandalay Bay casino and follow interior signage to the south casino level tram station. The free Mandalay Bay–Luxor–Excalibur tram runs from that station to Excalibur — from Excalibur, cross the level-two pedestrian bridge to MGM Grand's main entrance and Hakkasan is two minutes ahead. Total: 10–15 minutes from the convention center floor, no rideshare cost. Skyfall Lounge at Delano Las Vegas (nearest premium bar, on-campus): Exit the convention center into Mandalay Bay's north casino corridor and follow interior walkways to the Delano all-suite tower entrance, then up to the 64th floor. Total: 5–7 minutes via interior walkways, no street crossing, no transportation cost. Vinyl Room (on-campus alternative, opened Aug 8, 2026): Exit into the main Mandalay Bay casino, locate the elevator bank on the west side of the casino floor, and take the dedicated elevator to the 63rd floor. Total: 4–6 minutes. OMNIA at Caesars Palace, Marquee at The Cosmopolitan, LIV at Fontainebleau, Zouk at Resorts World: Exit the convention center to the Mandalay Bay main entrance on Las Vegas Boulevard and request rideshare. These venues are 1.5 to 3 miles north. Rideshare runs 10–20 minutes during normal evening hours; surge pricing adds time on Briefings nights (Wednesday and Thursday peak window 11 PM–1 AM). Timing Strategy by Black Hat Schedule Phase: Training Week (Saturday August 1 – Tuesday August 4, 9 AM course starts): Early-evening format works best. Sessions end by 5 PM and training days resume at 9 AM — late nights carry a course-performance cost. The practical window: Skyfall Lounge or Vinyl Room from 6–9 PM, dinner on-campus or at MGM Grand, Hakkasan arrival 10:30–11:30 PM, departure by 1 AM. Saturdays and Sundays are exceptions — weekend nights allow full late-evening formats with no Monday 9 AM constraint. Briefings Week (Wednesday August 5 – Thursday August 6, sessions end 6–7 PM): Full late-night format is viable. Sessions end at 6–7 PM, giving time for a conference-to-dinner transition, cocktails at Skyfall, and nightclub arrival between 10:30 PM and midnight. This is the correct window for Wednesday corporate entertaining at Hakkasan and Thursday closing-night events. Thursday differs: DEF CON badge pickup opens 8 AM Friday, so Thursday post-midnight plans compress DEF CON Day 1 preparation for those transitioning between conferences.
