Jeffrey Travis Abel — born 29 April 1986 in Kelowna, British Columbia — has operated under the Excision name for nearly two decades, building one of bass music's most devoted communities through a combination of heavy production craft, consistent touring, and a sustained commitment to elevating the live experience of dubstep into something that rivals arena-scale spectacle. His first release, Warning, arrived in 2007, establishing a sonic framework — engineered sub-bass, aggressive waveform design, and rhythmic intensity — that would define his catalog's aesthetic across every subsequent project. His 2011 debut studio album X Rated gained wide recognition in the EDM community, setting the commercial and critical standard for North American dubstep production at the time of its release, a position reinforced by the albums Codename X, Virus, Apex, and Onyx that followed over subsequent years.
