Vegas Hotel Guide
Nightlife Near Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay sits at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, and its nightlife personality is different from the center-Strip mega-club zone. Instead of a traditional nightclub, Mandalay Bay houses Foundation Room — a 63rd-floor lounge with panoramic Strip views — and Tailgate Beach Club is a short ride away across from Allegiant Stadium. The trade-off for being at the south end: you are further from the main nightclub corridor. The benefit: the property itself is massive, Foundation Room's views are unmatched, and the free entry solves the distance problem.
On-Property: Foundation Room (63rd Floor)
Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay is a lounge and event space on the 63rd floor with floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the entire Las Vegas Strip. Open daily from 6 PM to 2:30 AM, it serves as both a pre-club cocktail venue and a laid-back alternative to the mega-club experience.
Foundation Room is not a nightclub in the traditional sense — there is no headliner DJ, no dance floor packed to capacity. It is a cocktail lounge with a vibe that shifts from elegant sunset drinks to a more energetic late-night atmosphere. For visitors who want nightlife without the nightclub chaos, this is a strong option.
Nearby: Tailgate Beach Club
Tailgate Beach Club is located directly across from Allegiant Stadium, a short ride from Mandalay Bay. The Strip's first sports-themed pool club features three heated pools that operate year-round, 125+ feet of LED screens for live sports, and gaming cabanas with beer pong and foosball. Operated by Clique Hospitality, Tailgate runs Thursday through Sunday with DJ programming and bottle service. The sports-bar-meets-pool-party atmosphere is more laid-back than the intense energy of EBC or Marquee Dayclub.
Mandalay Bay also has its own resort pool complex available to hotel guests for a more relaxed daytime experience.
Getting to the Main Nightclub Corridor
Mandalay Bay is at the southern tip of the Strip, which means the major nightclubs require either a walk or a ride:
| Venue | Distance | Best Option |
|---|---|---|
| Hakkasan at MGM Grand | 10 min walk | Walkable via Luxor/Excalibur |
| Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM | 10 min walk | Walkable |
| Marquee at Cosmopolitan | 15 min walk or 5 min ride | Rideshare recommended |
| OMNIA at Caesars Palace | 8 min ride | Rideshare |
| Drai's at The Cromwell | 8 min ride | Rideshare |
The walk to MGM Grand follows the indoor corridor through Luxor and Excalibur via the tram — you can reach Hakkasan without going outside. For clubs north of MGM Grand, the free entry is the better option.
Strip Clubs: 5-7 Minute Ride
Crazy Horse III is the closest strip club at approximately 5 minutes away. Larry Flynt's Hustler Club is about 7 minutes. Both offer free entry at Mandalay Bay through our guest list.
Pre-Game Dining
Mandalay Bay has a deep restaurant collection. Libertine Social is a gastropub with creative cocktails — a natural pre-Foundation Room stop. Rivea by Alain Ducasse offers French-Italian cuisine on the 64th floor, one level above Foundation Room, with matching views. Stripsteak by Michael Mina is the steakhouse option. Lupo by Wolfgang Puck serves Italian.
The Rivea-to-Foundation Room transition is one of the best in Vegas: dinner on the 64th floor, drinks one floor down, all with panoramic views.
The Mandalay Bay Nightlife Playbook
| Time | Venue | Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 12 PM – 5 PM | Tailgate Beach Club or resort pool | Short ride |
| 6 PM – 8 PM | Rivea (64th floor dinner) | On-property |
| 8 PM – 10 PM | Foundation Room (63rd floor cocktails) | On-property |
| 10:30 PM – 2 AM | Free entry at Hakkasan or Marquee | 5-10 min ride |
| 2 AM – 4 AM | Free entry at Crazy Horse III | 5 min ride |
Mandalay Bay works best as a home base with the free entry handling the distance to the nightclub corridor.
FAQ
Does Mandalay Bay have a nightclub?
Mandalay Bay has Foundation Room, a 63rd-floor lounge with panoramic views, open 6 PM to 2:30 AM daily. It is not a traditional nightclub with headliner DJs, but a cocktail lounge with a more sophisticated atmosphere. For the mega-club experience, Hakkasan at MGM Grand is a 10-minute walk via indoor corridors.
Is Mandalay Bay too far from nightclubs?
It is further than center-Strip hotels but manageable. Hakkasan at MGM Grand is a 10-minute walk through Luxor and Excalibur (indoor). Marquee and OMNIA are a 5-8 minute ride. The free guest list includes ride transportation from Mandalay Bay to any nightclub or strip club.
What is Tailgate Beach Club like?
Tailgate Beach Club is the Strip's first sports-themed pool club, located across from Allegiant Stadium. It features three heated pools operating year-round, 125+ feet of LED screens for live sports, and gaming cabanas. Open Thursday through Sunday with DJ programming. The atmosphere is more laid-back than Encore Beach Club or Marquee Dayclub, with a sports-bar-meets-pool-party vibe.
Can I walk from Mandalay Bay to MGM Grand?
Yes. The tram and indoor walkways connect Mandalay Bay through Luxor and Excalibur to MGM Grand. The walk takes about 10 minutes and is entirely indoors with air conditioning. This gives you access to Hakkasan and Palm Tree Beach Club without going outside.
Is Mandalay Bay good for families visiting Vegas?
Mandalay Bay is one of the more family-friendly Strip hotels due to its massive pool complex and Shark Reef Aquarium. The nightlife scene (Foundation Room, nearby Tailgate Beach Club) is separated from the family areas. If some of your group wants nightlife and others want a relaxed pool day, Mandalay Bay accommodates both.
